Deutsche Elektronische Musik Vol 2:

                          image

Following 2010’s inspiring Deutsche Elektronische Musik Compilation, Soul Jazz Records continue their quest to bring the eclectic, free form creative energy of Krautrock to a wider contemporary audience with the release of the equally intriguing and engaging Deutsche Elecktronische Musik Volume 2 compilation.

Featuring a stunning line up of seminal German groups such as Can, Faust, Popul Vuh, Neu and many more the compilation also features many lesser known and obscure groups and artists from the late 70’s and early 80’s who successfully connected New Wave, minimal synth and European post-punk avant-gardism  with the earlier more established Krautrock pioneers who began at the start of the 70’s.

Consisting of over two and a half hours of music Deutsche Elecktronische Musik 2 is a comprehensive journey through an essential musical genre and cultural period. In short, highly recommended and essential listening.

Deutsche Elecktronische Musik 2 is available now from Soul Jazz Records

Albums Of The Year

A selection of some of my favourite albums of the year.

  • imageimageimage

1. Alt J - An Awesome Wave: One of those records that crosses the boundries of genre into something unique that can’t be catagorised. (Listen/Buy)

2. Tame Impala - Lonerism: Lots of daring arrangements, fuzz, synths and punchy Motown bass sounds. (Listen/Buy)

3. HAL - The Time The Hour: A darker and more ambitious statement than their critically acclaimed debut back in 2005.  (Best Irish Album of 2012). (Listen/Buy)

4. Grizzly Bear - Shields:”Yet Again”, Grizzly Bear have delivered the goods. A kaleidoscope of sound and feeling. This might just be their best yet, (you know).(Listen/Buy)

5. Liars - WIXIW: Computers have served the LA trio well. (Listen/Buy)

6. Kindness - World, You Need A Change Of Mind: Bringing the sound of the 80’s into light with a sophisticated and dancable groove. (Listen/Buy)

7. Bill Fay - Life Is People: These songs bring you back down to earth. Gracefully Bill Fay communicates here that “Life Is People”. (Listen/Buy)

8. The Orwells - Remember When: These young punks convincingly lay down their teenage angst with authority. Best played LOUD!!! (Listen/Buy)

9. Sharon Van Etten - Tramp: The sound of an artist hitting their stride. The power and depth of these songs are matched with there production. (Listen/Buy)

10. Allah Las - Allah Las (S/T): Twelve jangly sun drenched songs that take you to the West coast of America. California Dreaming. (Listen/Buy)
